29) Nodes, flows and zones: transmission network charges for generators
Show Notes

The upcoming 'Capacity Market' and 'Contracts for Difference auctions' have put transmission network charges back under the spotlight, with generators needing to take a long-term view of 'Transmission Network Use of System (TNUoS)' charges their projects will face.

In this podcast, James Brabben and Andrew Enzor discuss the latest developments in TNUoS charging for generators and the uncertainties on the horizon. We discuss recent and upcoming regulatory uncertainties, as well as the impact of the ongoing fundamental transformation being seen in the location and mix of generation technologies and demand on the system. The challenges prospective generators face in estimating the charges they will face are stark, so we also discuss the work Cornwall Insight is doing to support generators looking at future projects.
